Coach Wooden's definition of success: “Success is peace of mind which is a direct result of self-satisfaction in knowing you made the effort to become the best you are capable of becoming.”
Coach Wooden believed and taught that the most important responsibility each of us has to ourselves is to do everything we can to achieve our own potential. His Pyramid of Success and his definition of success serves as stepping stones to help young people understand what it really takes to make the effort – 100% – to fulfill their potential and do their best.
To help celebrate BHUSD’s Character Education Week, Harper for Kids will be hosting a “Pyramid of Success” assembly at each of our schools to reinforce how Coach Wooden’s Pyramid of Success can help students reach their personal best in life.
Each school will be offering special themed activities throughout the week, and has purchased character education books for their school library. Parents are encouraged to speak with their children about the various character traits, and how those traits reflect their own family values or have influenced them as they matured. Parents may also check out books from the library to read with their children to help spur conversations about character and success. Together with parents, our schools hope to influence our children to always do their best!
