Project Progress Update: Beverly Hills High School
Beverly Hills Unified School District has contracted DLR Group as the Architect of Record for the Beverly Hills High School Modernization Project.
On the 25th of April 2012, DLR Group presented their conceptual competition design scheme “A Vision for the Future” to the BHUSD stakeholder group and DeJong-Richter provided an update on the District’s High School Educational Specifications and Facilities Master Planning efforts. DLR Group then held three (3) Visioning Workshops and attended a Board study session to better understand and gather all Stakeholders’ wants, needs, desires and concerns when modernizing and redeveloping the existing High School campus that will “Honor the Past, but Shape the Future”. The collected input from all stakeholders’ is documented in a graphic booklet and two (2) conceptual site planning schemes have been developed that allow for flexible 21st century learning environment for the next 75 plus years. The team will be presenting the stakeholders input from the Visioning Workshops and two (2) conceptual site planning schemes to the District‘s Board of Education at the July 25th Study Session for final comments and direction.
The District’s Board of Education has directed DLR Group to provide a Structural Seismic Assessment Report of the High School’s Building B. DLR Group’s structural consultant Saiful Bouquet Structural Engineers (SBI) is performing the analysis per the guidelines of the American Society of Civil Engineers ASCE 31 for seismic evaluation of the existing buildings. SBI will present their preliminary findings and recommendations to the District’s Board of Education at the July 25th Study Session.
