Success Story: Tsunami Relief Fund

In response to the devastating Asian tsunami in December 2004, Beverly Hills High School decided to organize a school-wide Service-Learning project. Over twenty teachers from various departments (English, Foreign Language, Science, Photography, History) developed visual curricular material related to both the tsunami and to their discipline.

The visual materials are displayed in a glass case outside of the library that was dubbed the Wall of Remembrance. The Wall brought awareness to the plight of the survivors and the victims.

After the Wall was completed, Life Science students collected donations from all the classrooms for the victims during the period 3 classes. The donations were sent to Project Hope, a charity that was selected after much research by the AP Government classes (another Service-Learning project).
