New and Returning Students

 

Welcome, All New and Returning/Continuing Families to BHUSD

Monday, August 12, 2019, is the first day of school for the 2019-2020 school year.

Welcome to Beverly Hills Unified School District (BHUSD).  To register a student with the Beverly Hills Unified School District, a parent/guardian must follow these steps:

STEP 1: Be currently living full-time in a dwelling within the BHUSD boundaries OR to qualify for an Interdistrict Permit, be currently employed for the City of Beverly Hills or BHUSD.  

 

Disclaimer:  BHUSD seeks to balance the number of students per school/class to ensure that each student gets the attention and quality education that they deserve and need.  Therefore, we reserve the right to make adjustments to the area of attendance map per school based on available space and program access.

 

STEP 2:  Read the Welcome Letter, proof of residency requirements, and the Annual Notification of Rights & Responsibilities Handbook.  Click on the items and below and the link will appear. Click on the link.

 

 

STEP 3:  Access the student registration portal below and complete the New-to-District online registration application.  This process takes approximately 45 minutes to complete. If you cannot fully complete the application in one sitting, you can return at a later time.  Your progress is saved in Aeries.


Here are a few helpful tips:

1. When entering your information, please enter it with no punctuation and do not use all caps.  For example,

2. Create your personal account by using your email and a password. (See “How to E-Register” below) A message to confirm your account will be sent to your email. Click on the link that is sent to your email to complete creating your personal account.
3. Enter your information on the application as prompted.

4.  For TK-8th grades, print out the Aeries enrollment forms and bring them with you to the District Office, Student Services Department, 3rd Floor.

5.  For 9th - 12th Grades, please print out the Aeries enrollment forms, with parent/guardian and student's signatures. You will also need to bring the required documents listed on the BHUSD website to establish your residence within the district boundaries to your enrollment appointment at the High School.

Please note, you need to email/call to make your in-person appointment before coming to our school site, as we have a closed campus. Hours of availability are 9:00 - 11:00 am and 1:10 - 3:00 pm Monday through Friday during school days. Please use the alphabetical guide below to determine which House Office Secretary at Beverly Hills High School to contact.

6. If you have multiple students, enter all of your students separately.

STEP 4: Gather all of the required and applicable optional documents (see Step 2) for an in-person visit to complete the enrollment process.   Do not proceed to Step 5 until you have completed Steps 1-4.  



STEP 5: High School, GRADES 9-12 ONLY

See Step 3.5 (above) for the information.

 

STEP 5: GRADES TK-8 ONLY

Complete the enrollment process in-person by scheduling an appointment to visit the Student Services office at 255 South Lasky Drive, Beverly Hills, CA 90212, 3rd Floor.  For questions, call 310-551-5100 EXT. 2250 or 2241.  Students are not required to be present for the appointment.  They are welcome to attend with parent/guardian supervision.

Here are some helpful tips for completing the enrollment process:

  1. Click the link below to book an appointment. Walk-ins are accepted, but to avoid long lines and unpredictable wait-times, you are strongly encouraged to book an appointment. Click here: https://bhusdregistration.setmore.com
  2. Bring all original documents listed in Step 2 for verification and inspection.
  3. Appointment visits will take approximately 30 minutes per student.
  4. If you have more than one student to register, please book separate, consecutive appointments for each student.

Continuing Enrollment for Students Returning to BHUSD

 

Welcome back to BHUSD, we look forward to providing your child(ren) with another year of exceptional education.  To enroll your child in the upcoming school year 2019-2020, please follow these steps:

STEP 1:  Read BHUSD Welcome Back letter, the BHUSD Annual Notification of Parent Rights and Responsibilities, and confirm home school for 20190-2020 school year.

STEP 2:  Complete and return the Intent to Return notice to your child’s current school site.  Monday, March 4, 2019, was the original deadline to return the forms. School sites are currently accepting these notices through May 31, 2019.

For all families, please indicate whether or not you intend to return in the year 2019-2020.  For families who intend to return, please update your current residential Beverly Hills address. The Continuing Student Registration process and the Aeries Parent Portal Access Code will be mailed to the updated address.  You will need this code to complete the online registration process.

STEP 3:  Returning families will be emailed the instructions to access the Aeries Parent Portal for Enrollment on July 8, 2019.

 

STEP 4: Complete the online registration process including the child’s emergency card and Annual Acknowledgements.  Print these forms out and bring them to the school as indicated below in STEP 5.

HOW TO "E-REGISTER" & UPDATE STUDENT INFORMATION

  1. Click on the Aeries Parent Portal link.
  2. On the top, middle portion of your screen, select "Click Here" in the yellow text. 
  3. Update your child's information in Sections 1 – 6 (on the left) using the directions on the screen.
  4. Parent/guardians should update the contact information and emergency contacts that specifically pertain to that person. It is critical that this information be accurate for ALL parent/guardians in the event of an emergency.
  5. YOU MUST VIEW AND COMPLETE ALL REQUIRED INFORMATION.  Authorizations and Prohibitions force you to select a “Status”.  Documents force you to click on “Click to Accept.”
  6. After reviewing all information, click on the Final Data Confirmation tab and confirm your submission.
  7. Print the  "Emergency Card Form" and the Acknowledgement PDF Form.  Both forms MUST be completed, signed and returned to school.

CREATING YOUR ACCOUNT - NEW USERS ONLY

  1. Click on the Aeries Parent Portal.
  2. Click "Create New Account" at the bottom of the login box.
  3. Choose “Parent” as the Account Type and click on Next.
  4. Add this email address to your "contacts" or "safe senders" list to ensure you receive this email. aeriesportal@bhusd.org
  5. Enter your personal e-mail address, your password choice and click on “Next” (one time).
  6. A VERIFICATION email WILL BE SENT TO YOU.  Click on “Confirm This Email Address”. 
  7. Return to the Login Page and log on.
  8. Enter the Permanent ID number, the Home Telephone Number (or main number you provided to the school), and the VPC Security Code that was mailed to you.  Click “Next”.
  9. Select one contact name at a time, update the e-mail and then click “Next”.
  10. You may now add another student at the next screen or begin to e-Register your child(ren)

STEP 5: Bring Mandatory and any applicable Optional Forms as follows:

  1. TK-5 and 6-8 students can bring their forms on the first day of the new school year to the Homeroom Teacher.  The first day of school for the 2019-2020 school year is Monday, August 12, 2019.  
  2. BHHS students can bring their forms to their grade-level registration day in the summer (see below).

RETURNING 10TH - 12TH GRADE STUDENT REGISTRATION DAYS:

3rd Floor Student Cafeteria at BHHS

Check-in at the Student Cafeteria no later than 30 minutes before posted closing time in order to get your schedules, laptop computer, and textbooks before closing.

Athletes with fall tryouts and Link Crew check-in at 8:00 am.

BHUSD School-to-School (Intra-district) Transfer Requests Procedures

Reconfiguration Transitions for TK-8:  If you fall into one of the categories below, you DO NOT need to submit an Intra-district Application unless you want to change to a different school than the school that the student will automatically be enrolled in next year.  This process does not apply to High School.

Step 1:  To apply for the School-to-School (Intra-district) Transfer, visit the BHUSD Website starting Wednesday, May 15 through Thursday, May 30, 2019.

  

Step 2:  When you submit the completed application electronically, it will be time/date stamped and sent to the appropriate BHUSD Student Services. Click here: https://www.bhusd.org/apps/form/Intradistrict-Transfer-Application

Link will be available Wednesday, May 15, 2019.

 

Step 3:  Parents will be notified no later than Friday, July 19, 2019, whether the application was granted or denied.
