BHUSD Opens District Facility for Beverly Hills Fire Department Training

Beverly Hills, CA (August 2, 2026) – Beverly Hills Unified School District opened its Lasky Building on Sunday to the Beverly Hills Fire Department for a comprehensive emergency response training exercise.

With students away from campus, BHUSD provided firefighters with access to the District facility to practice responding to emergencies in a realistic school environment. The exercise included simulated fire and smoke conditions, search and rescue operations, hose and ladder deployment, ventilation procedures, and incident command coordination.

Providing access to District campuses and facilities allows local first responders to become more familiar with building layouts, entrances, and operational conditions before an emergency occurs. The training also supports BHUSD’s continued focus on preparedness and close coordination with Beverly Hills public safety agencies.

“One of Beverly Hills’ greatest strengths is the close partnership between our City and our schools. Today’s joint training exercise with the Beverly Hills Fire Department is another example of what can be accomplished when agencies work together with a shared mission of protecting our community,” said BHUSD Board of Education President Judith Manouchehri. “Preparedness is not something we take for granted at BHUSD, and we are deeply appreciative of the Fire Department’s commitment to ensuring our campuses, students, and staff are ready for any situation. Together, we are building a safer and stronger Beverly Hills.”

BHUSD and the City of Beverly Hills also coordinated advance messaging to notify nearby residents that emergency vehicles and non-toxic training smoke would be visible during the exercise.

The District looks forward to continuing to open its facilities for future training opportunities with the Beverly Hills Fire and Police Departments as part of its commitment to protecting students, employees, and the broader Beverly Hills community.
