Beverly Hills, CA (August 25, 2026) – Beverly Vista Middle School students kicked off the new school year with an evening designed just for them as the annual BVMS Welcome Back Carnival transformed New BVMS Field with rides, food, activities, and plenty of school spirit.

Made possible through the generous support of Michael J. Libow (BHHS Class of 1981), the carnival was organized by the Beverly Vista Middle School PTA, whose members dedicated countless hours to creating an experience that gave students the chance to reconnect with friends, have fun, and begin the year with a memory they will not soon forget.

The Beverly Hills Fire Department joined the celebration, with firefighters serving food and spending time with students throughout the evening.

The spirit of Beverly Hills was also on full display when representatives from three important pillars of the community took on one of the carnival rides together. Lt. Billy Fair of the Beverly Hills Police Department, BHUSD Superintendent Dr. Alex Cherniss, and Beverly Hills Firefighter Jimmy Weinstein headed down the slide side by side, bringing a memorable moment of fun to the evening.

“Some of the most meaningful school experiences happen when students simply have the opportunity to be together, build friendships, and feel connected to their school,” said BHUSD Superintendent Dr. Alex Cherniss. “The BVMS PTA created something incredibly special for our students, and we are grateful to Michael J. Libow and our community partners for helping give them such a memorable start to the year.”

The Welcome Back Carnival reflects the importance BVMS places on building a strong sense of belonging from the very beginning of the school year, giving students an opportunity to reconnect, create new memories, and start the year feeling proud to be a Bulldog.
