GATE Advisory Minutes
May 18, 2004 1. Introduction of Members 2. Mars Alpha Project Update 3. GATE Grant Update 4. 04-05 Program Design GATE Members in attendance included Kevin Painter - BV Teacher Susan Trachtenberg - HM Teacher Theresa Maysonet - ER Parent Dr. Gail Mezrow - HAW Parent Cindy Dubin - ER Parent W. Rex Comer - District Office 1. Following the introduction of members, Mr. Comer provided the committee with an overview of the schedule for the Mars Alpha Project 2. Ms Susan Trachtenberg provided the committee with an update of Mars Alpha project. The project has just completed its second day. Students spent their first day visiting the BHHS planetarium. If anyone is interested in assisting Ms Trachtenberg at the high school or on the field trips to the Challenger Learning Center please contact Mrs. Trachtenberg. [email protected] 3. The Beverly Hills Unified School District will continue to recieve approximately $42,000 to support the GATE program for the 2004-05 school year. This year's funds were used to support the after school Honors Music Choir program and the Mars Alpha project. 4. A discussion with members and other parents who attended was held to discuss possible options for the 04-05 school year. A variety of options were discussed by everyone at the meeting. Additionally topics for middle school level students were discussed. An evaluation of the current program offerings will be conducted at the end of the year in planning for next year. This was the final meeting of the GATE Advisory Committee for the 2003-04 school year. Thank you to all members for their participation. |
