Horace Mann School Site Council (SSC) Committee Application

Dear Horace Mann and Beverly Vista Elementary School Families,
As you may know, the School Site Council (SSC) is a state-mandated committee made up of an equal number of parents and school staff. Members are elected and participate in discussions directly related to our school plan, goals, and designated budget, which in turn will help to maintain quality instructional programs at Horace Mann School. Joining the SSC is a way to directly and positively affect your children’s education.
For the upcoming year, we currently have a total of six spaces available for parents of students attending Horace Mann School next year. Since this is the inaugural year of Horace Mann School (K-5) the six spaces available for parents will be comprised of three parents representing BV and HM. Thus, three parents with students currently at Beverly Vista School will be selected, and three parents with students currently at Horace Mann School will be selected. This is to ensure that there will be representation from both of our elementary schools.
If you are interested in being part of the SSC, please complete the attached application and return it to the front office of your child’s current school by Friday, May 3rd at noon. You can also email it directly to your school principal. If there are more volunteers than positions available, the parent community of that school will cast ballots on the week of Open House to select the SSC Members from that school.
If an election is necessary, ballots will be made available to participating parents (parents who will have a child enrolled in Horace Mann School next year). Ballots will be able to be cast from April 29th to May 3rd, by filling them out and delivering them to the front office of your child’s current school during this time period.
We are better together as one community and I am grateful for your continued support and participation in our schools.
Juliet Fine Principal
