El Rodeo Family Legacy Lives on in Historic Benches

The two historic, wooden benches that have welcomed generations of children outside the El Rodeo School auditorium now bear the names of Jesse Goldstein (1915-1959) and Ruth Goldstein Kaskey (1916-2015).

Members of the Beverly Hills Education Foundation, El Rodeo PTA , as well as El Rodeo office staff and Principal and Assistant Principal Kevin Allen and Kevin Painter were on hand Friday morning, January 26th, for the dedication of the benches in the school office. The five children of Mr. Goldstein and Mrs. Goldstein Kaskey chose to sponsor the benches through BHEF as a way to honor their parents' lifelong commitment to education.

Ruth Goldstein Kaskey taught 2nd Grade at El Rodeo for over 20 years. The benches now bearing the couple's names are original to the school.  In fact, the couple's children fondly remember using them when they were all students at El Rodeo years ago.

The two benches are temporarily located in the El Rodeo office as construction and improvements to the school and auditorium continue.  The benches will eventually be returned to their original location outside the auditorium when the work is complete.

Naming opportunities through BHEF are available at all BHUSD campuses. For more information visit BHEF.org.
