two lessons from the past two years ago organized and attended a Board of Education meeting to express to the board that the Educators in the district where the fair settlement in terms of calories the district and BHA were able to work together at the eleventh hour to finalize an agreement and a new era of collaboration trust and teamwork between both side was established one year ago in March 2015 BHA and a bit District came to a consensus 40 Health and Welfare benefit what a bargaining team but later that month the district negotiation team backtrack and said it would not agree to this after all just let your more Oregon Macklemore discussions between DHA the district and a board of education the issue was resolved and an agreement was reached to increase our annual Health and Welfare benefits $1,000 starting 2016/17 the lesson from the past two years are clear one when it came down to it be play and the district in the Board of Education could come together and work things in return so distinct that the bargaining team and our president had surveyed our members beforehand and a majority of our men indicated they supported such a change we did not leverage for something in return because one we felt the calendar would benefit all stakeholders especially are deceiving who wanted to work with the district and the board of education for students and the community classrooms 223 parents of the community were in an uproar this would mean immediate 15% increase in classified BHA encourages members trust the Board of Education and the process and her main particular grade level across the district was at 20 as we all know our contract supersedes for policy we were also confident that like DHEA the board of regard is tools and their education has taught Time that they were in the difference because of their performance I feel that each deserve you know that individual attention the top five schools in Chicago with an average of 29 this affordable for teachers in that respect what I do know is that a class needs to be at a prize that allows teachers to get to know each student so we can recognize their different instances and learning issues and and she's been there for you so on  you know I guess I'll start off by saying that my my family and I are only living here because my daughter gets I believe this guy and John you know we're all paying the heavy premium and housing costs as I'm sure you guys understand you know that's the 30% the rest of this decided town  so alive open there for years and while her grades are very good he is a good student email we supplement with tutoring and Mathnasium and all kinds of things to help her in school because there's only so much that Mom and Dad can do after stay at work late so the original sizes for all the reasons that have been so eloquently put where is evenings but mainly I think she is trust and how such a critical issue could sort of bees handled by just a few people is should have been flagged and perhaps you should have had forums about this  that's really at midnight so I would beg you to reconsider and because I feel like if I'm moving in this direction and then direction this new board is taking voted this board on in on the promise that they would do everything in their power to promote smaller class sizes investment Superior technology provide facilities and do all they could to support our volume teachers instead just months into their into their term this board is that the nuclear option of increasing class sizes by the 2017-18 school year did boards grand plan is to increase class I 223 kids also they can fire a teacher's and save $800,000 it's purely a money grab and it's a bit extreme disregard teachers and students Craigslist  the board is already Stripped Away critical supports are kids and teachers heavily relied on which included teacher's assistants the English language learner program and reading specialist and this proposal would further diminish was it the district in every way this move by the board is destructive and an example of uninspired leadership so here we are the schools are crumbling support systems are being eliminated and teacher layoffs are in an eminent what do we do we need to raise money and it's Our obligation as parents and community members to raise it we need to learn how other districts and other do it and take note Manhattan Beach Public Schools for example for their wine auction and other events raise over four million dollars a year Beverly Hills races less than a million  Loyola High School shut down the road raises 1.3 million with a single charity event a naturally one school  yeah we have nothing of real significance in place and bake sale simply won't cut it this one is on Ice Terrace my wife and I want with the Coalition of other concerned parents and Community leaders and the VHF are going to spearhead a campaign to raise an additional $800,000 in the next year  our first meeting is already on the books for May 26th and it's acrid is now taking shape for this to happen however if the board has to put their swords down the Board needs to put doctor and if it into with hits ever leave it strong and hard it because it's the school not under construction can my daughters getting an excellent education doesn't seem to me that uneven even if there's a 23 caps pocket and they'll have to are in a technology program let's make sure that class size is kept to a level where children get a primary let's not replace teachers with computer screens first and are we keeping in mind or students and their education I believe that the teachers have been discussing class size increasing to the first mentioned at the board meeting on March 8th and April 4th I'm not going to read the letter but we wrote a letter to the board and superintendent then published in the Beverly Hills so I encourage you to read it we stated far feelings are opinions as Educators and how we found them turn children I would like to know that the board change the policy from 20 to 1 - 23 - 1 Beverly Vista in kindergarten pre-kindergarten receives a prostitute classes from 16 to very involved in our district I have 3 children under 6 with one currently attending kindergarten at the editing  the reason I'm here today is to explain my points regarding class size and teacher permit speak in the flashlight in the last month policy was made to lift the cap and class size and allows 43 classes to be increased to 23 - 1 is already been a 21st child added to my own son's kindergarten classroom in kindergarten first second and third grade classrooms 21 children is far too students learning expectation of school that will stay with them for their entire School career over the years I've seen the removal of AIDS and reading intervention specialist increasing the number to make a tree classroom will make it difficult for these young minds to learn the basics of Reading Writing and arithmetic  second Ricky 7 standard and the river that is involved in teaching our kids today increasing class sizes Wilmington impossible forever to get here LOL to make it that much more challenging to get every child ready to move forward to the next grade and the last year is too scared to roll down from Upper Grade to the lower grade play free transportation for the younger students we have a greater responsibility to not only expose our students the contest but haven't mastered the skills for the state test can you start earlier in preparing them for at this essential differentiated instruction for the Dever child can reach his or her potential next I do understand being physically found it makes sense to be sure that do what happened last year open another classroom just to serve a handful of students I feel we can achieve this by looking at our moment over the summer and making sure that there is a pay for incoming students since many students join us in the middle of the Year let's be financially responsible by making sure we do not max out nearly every classroom before the year begins finally some schools of replacing an increase in class size due to the fact the School site is not undergoing construction there are also four passes that pop up with more physical space even though. specifically BT's for her second grade hallway potentially some classrooms to get 13 or 14 students While others might be a 22 or 23 I cannot see how she thinks 13 students would be the same as teaching 23 the severity is already happening in the 4th and 5th grade classrooms at Beverly Vista where they always had the higher number in another full site we need to change purse language so they we are sure there is equity among the school's I will not move my attention to teacher permit if the board of the direction of the Void if removed from her permit I am very concerned that we will make it more difficult for teachers to do their jobs the accessible before and after will fasting help I will make it much more challenging to be involved in treating hemorrhoids after cities some truly amazing educator we would not be able to fruit or
