My journey began right here at BHUSD, as a middle school math teacher at Beverly Vista, then Assistant Principal and Principal at Hawthorne, and later as Assistant Superintendent for Business Services. These schools aren’t just familiar to me, they are part of who I am. I know this community. I know our values. And I know what’s possible when we come together with purpose and passion.

BHUSD is more than just a school district, it’s a launching pad for bright futures. Generations of families have entrusted us with their children’s education because they believe in our tradition of academic excellence and innovation. With that belief comes high expectations, and we embrace them, because our students deserve nothing less.

We’re already taking bold, future-focused steps. We’re expanding individualized academic support to ensure every student meets, and exceeds, grade-level expectations. We’re launching a new Spanish Dual Language Immersion program to empower global citizens. And we’re raising the bar on student performance, with a clear goal: increase English and math proficiency by five percent each year, and track our growth every step of the way.

But we’re not stopping there. Our focus is forward. Today’s students will shape tomorrow’s world,  and we’re preparing them to lead it. That means building critical thinking, communication, and real-world skills. It means integrating cutting-edge tools like AI and emerging technology into learning,  not as extras, but as essentials. We’re designing an educational experience that reflects the world our students will inherit and influence.

Above all, we are reigniting a culture of excellence and pride. Our students should walk into school every day inspired to achieve, not just for themselves, but because they carry the legacy and promise of a district with heart, history, and high standards. We are here to lift them up, support our educators, listen to our families, and propel BHUSD into a future defined by student success.
