Beverly Hills, CA (May 10, 2025) – Continuing our BHHS College Decisions Series, Beverly Hills High School is proud to announce that Ruby Matenko, a proud member of the Class of 2025, will be attending the University of California, Irvine. Ruby will major in Public Health Sciences and join the prestigious Campuswide Honors Collegium at one of California’s most respected research universities.
Ruby’s time at BHHS has been shaped by intellectual curiosity, creative expression, and a deep commitment to women’s health. A three-year member of the Medical Science Academy, she also participated in the Osborne Medical Scholars Program, interned with TAD Health, and volunteered over 100 hours at Cedars-Sinai, laying the foundation for a future in maternal and public health.
In addition to her academic and medical pursuits, Ruby published a book on women’s health at age 15 and contributed to BHHS as a columnist for Highlights and a member of the yearbook staff. She served as captain of the Speech and Debate Team, president of the Teach to Change peer tutoring club, and played on the Varsity Girls Tennis team throughout high school.
“Ruby is a powerhouse of intellect and empathy,” said Mr. Drew Stewart, Principal of Beverly Hills High School. “She leads with compassion, curiosity, and confidence, and we know she will be a force for good in the world of healthcare and beyond.”
Ruby’s journey exemplifies what it means to live Today Well Lived. We can’t wait to see all she will accomplish at UCI and beyond.
