Beverly Hills, CA (November 14, 2025) – Beverly Hills High School proudly reopened the doors of the newly renovated Salter Family Theatre on Thursday, November 13, 2025. The evening began with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and continued with the opening night performance of Little Women, marking a powerful return to a space deeply cherished by generations of students and alumni.
The Salter Family Theatre has been transformed into a state-of-the-art performance venue. It features professional-grade sound and lighting, upgraded backstage systems, and a flexible layout that preserves the intimate atmosphere that has long made this theatre a cornerstone of the BHHS Performing Arts legacy.
“Tonight, we didn’t just cut a ribbon. We opened the doors to possibility,” said Superintendent Dr. Alex Cherniss. “The reopening of the Salter Theatre reflects our unwavering belief in the power of student voice, creativity, and the arts as a pillar of Educational Excellence.”
The ribbon-cutting brought together board members, district leaders, staff, families, alumni, and students. Guests were welcomed with refreshments prepared and served by students from the BHHS Culinary Arts Pathway, highlighting the strength and collaboration of the school’s Career Technical Education programs.
“For years, our students called this space the ‘Little Theatre,’” said Board of Education President Rachelle Marcus. “But there is nothing little about what happens here. This theatre prepares our students for big futures in college, in careers, and in life. And tonight’s performance of Little Women was absolutely fantastic. What a beautiful way to bring this space back to life.”
Little Women, directed through the BHHS Performing Arts Pathway, was a celebration of student ownership and talent. Every aspect of the production, acting, lighting, sound, costumes, and set design was created entirely by students. The result was a dynamic performance that captured the heart of the audience and showcased the extraordinary capabilities of BHHS artists and technicians.
For those who missed opening night, additional performances of Little Women will take place on November 14–15 and 20–22 at 7:00 PM, with a special matinee on November 22 at 2:00 PM. Tickets are available at bhhs.bhusd.org/theatre
The reopening of the Salter Family Theatre is not just a facilities milestone. It represents a renewed commitment to student creativity, expression, and the future of the arts at Beverly Hills High School.
