Beverly Hills, CA (May 1, 2026) – The Beverly Hills Unified School District (BHUSD) proudly celebrated the grand opening and ribbon-cutting of the newly completed Grand Lawn at Beverly Hills High School, marking a major milestone in the district’s ongoing campus modernization efforts.

The celebration brought together the entire Beverly Hills High School student body during lunch, alongside members of the Board of Education and City Council, to commemorate the opening of a space that sits at the heart of campus life. With the ceremonial ribbon cutting, the Grand Lawn was officially returned to students, reimagined as a vibrant, central gathering place designed to foster connection, community, and school spirit.

The reopening of the Grand Lawn represents nearly a decade of thoughtful, phased modernization across the Beverly Hills High School campus. Long regarded as a defining feature of the school, the revitalized lawn now provides a dynamic setting for daily student life as well as key milestones and traditions.

“Generations of community members made a bold commitment when they invested in modernizing our schools, and we take seriously our responsibility to honor that trust by delivering results. Over the past several years, our focus has been on maximizing every taxpayer dollar, improving efficiency, and ensuring these projects move forward in a financially responsible way. In partnership with Fonder-Salari, the District strengthened the program’s financial position from a projected $100+ million shortfall to a $5 million surplus while also expanding improvements to include projects such as the new tennis courts and Grand Lawn,” said Judith Manouchehri, BHUSD Board of Education President.

From student gatherings and lunchtime connections to upcoming events such as community celebrations, promotions, and graduation activities, the Grand Lawn will serve as a backdrop for the experiences that shape the high school journey.

The Grand Lawn stands as a symbol of BHUSD’s continued commitment to Educational Excellence, ensuring that students have access to high-quality, thoughtfully designed spaces that support their growth, well-being, and sense of belonging.
