Beverly Hills, CA (March 29, 2026) – Beverly Hills High School students in the Probability and Statistics course recently continued a valued annual tradition with the school’s Probability Fair, an engaging, student-led event that transforms mathematical theory into real-world application.

Led by mathematics teacher Mr. Glass, the project challenges students to design and operate original carnival-style games rooted entirely in chance. Each game is carefully developed using principles of theoretical probability and expected value, requiring students to think critically about outcomes, fairness, and profitability before putting their designs into practice.

During the event, students hosted their games for peers, collecting data on actual gameplay and comparing results to their initial calculations. This hands-on experience deepens students’ understanding of statistical analysis while reinforcing key concepts through observation and reflection.

“This annual tradition is a powerful example of how our students bring academic concepts to life through meaningful, hands-on learning,” said Dr. Alex Cherniss, Superintendent of the Beverly Hills Unified School District. “Through experiences like the Probability Carnival, our students are developing critical thinking, creativity, and analytical skills that prepare them to thrive in a complex, ever-changing world.”

As a longstanding tradition at Beverly Hills High School, the Probability Carnival reflects the school’s commitment to innovative instruction and student-centered learning. By bridging theory and practice, the project exemplifies how BHHS continues to deliver on the district’s standard of Educational Excellence.
