Beverly Hills, CA (January 27, 2026) – Judge Chalfant took swift action this morning to deny the Motion for Temporary Restraining Order brought forth by attorney and parent Daniel Lifschitz, who improperly cited voter suppression tactics to muffle duly elected officials’ right to conduct public business.  Lifschitz’s misguided attempt to preemptively block elected officials from conducting business and casting their votes was a resounding failure.

The District issued the following statement following its legal victory:

As expected, the Beverly Hills Unified School District prevailed against the frivolous and failed attempt by Daniel Lifschitz to obtain a temporary restraining order to prevent the Board of Education’s right to conduct business, thus reaffirming that the Board conducts its business lawfully, transparently, and in full compliance with applicable law.

Actions like this serve only as a distraction from the District’s clear progress and student-focused successes, while unnecessarily wasting valuable taxpayer dollars on lawyers rather than on students.
