Beverly Hills, CA (January 24, 2026) – On Friday night, Beverly Hills High School hosted Santa Monica High School in a highly anticipated varsity boys’ basketball matchup inside the historic Swim Gym. The event brought together students, families, alumni, and staff in one of the most energized athletic environments BHHS has seen in recent years, reestablishing a sense of unity, leadership, and school pride that has been steadily building throughout the season.

Under the direction of head coach Adam Verdi, now in his first year leading the varsity program, the Normans demonstrated discipline, cohesion, and determination on the court. Verdi, a 1999 graduate of Beverly Hills High School and longtime coach within the program, has emphasized accountability, culture, and team-first mentality; principles that were evident in the team’s performance throughout the game.

While the final score did not favor Beverly Hills, the program made a strong statement, showing resilience, sportsmanship, and growth that extend far beyond a single game.

The night also reflected a coordinated effort across the entire BHHS student body. ASB leadership students supported event planning and signage, the Cheer team rallied the crowd, and Broadcast Production students filmed the entire game. The evening featured T-shirt giveaways, free tickets for BVMS students, and a vibrant student section, creating an environment that was both welcoming and celebratory.

This season also marks the first under the district’s five-year partnership with Nike through BSN Sports. Friday’s matchup served as the team’s debut rivalry appearance in the official Nike uniforms, reinforcing the district-wide commitment to excellence in athletics and student engagement.

“The energy in the gym was exceptional,” said Principal Loan Sriruska. “Our students represented themselves with integrity and heart, and the community responded in full support. This is exactly the kind of culture we’re building at Beverly Hills High School.”

The rivalry season continues with the Beverly Hills High School Boys Varsity Basketball vs. Milken on Saturday, January 24th.

As the season continues, the BHHS basketball program carries forward a renewed sense of pride and momentum, backed by a strong foundation of leadership, on the court and across the campus.
