Beverly Hills, CA (January 24, 2026) – On Saturday, January 24, the Beverly Hills High School boys’ varsity basketball team secured a commanding 65-44 win over Milken Community School in what has quickly become a defining moment for the program and the school community as a whole. With an energized student section, a unified team presence, and a crowd of over 700 that packed the historic Swim Gym wall to wall, the Normans delivered not just a victory, but a statement.

The matchup followed Friday night’s highly anticipated rivalry game against Santa Monica, a performance that reignited the spirit across campus. On Saturday, that energy carried forward, and this time, it translated into a decisive win. The scoreboard aligned with the drive and preparation the team has demonstrated all season. The result marked not only a key moment for Beverly Hills High School, but a source of pride felt across the entire City of Beverly Hills.

“This was more than a win,” said Principal Loan Sriruksa. “It was a reflection of who we are becoming as a school community; resilient, united, and deeply invested in one another’s success.”

Led by head coach Adam Verdi, now in his first season as varsity head coach, the team displayed exceptional cohesion on both ends of the court. Ball movement was sharp. Defense was relentless. Players stepped up in key moments, not for individual recognition, but in service of a collective goal. The win was earned through discipline, trust, and consistent effort; qualities that Verdi has worked tirelessly to instill throughout the program.

The atmosphere surrounding the game reflected a school and a city, fully engaged. Students from ASB, Cheer, Band, Broadcast Production, and leadership all contributed to the experience. Giveaways, student performances, and a packed crowd created a dynamic environment fueled by unity and purpose. More than 700 attendees, including students from Beverly Vista Middle School, El Rodeo Elementary School, and Horace Mann Elementary School, along with many BHHS alumni, filled the stands, reflecting a level of community participation rarely seen in recent years.

“This game showed exactly what makes Beverly Hills Unified so special,” said Superintendent Dr. Alex Cherniss. “It was student-led and community-supported. It brought together every part of our district, elementary, middle, and high school students, families, alumni, and staff, in a way that reminds us of the strength and spirit that define Beverly Hills.”

The victory also reflected the cultural shift taking place across BHHS athletics. As part of the inaugural year of the district’s Nike partnership through BSN Sports, the team competed with a renewed sense of identity, one rooted in tradition but elevated by a shared vision of excellence. What it means to be a Norman is changing, and the entire school is rising to meet that moment.

This win was not just about basketball. It was about belief: earned, shared, and proudly on display. For the students, staff, and supporters of Beverly Hills, it marked the beginning of something bigger.
