Beverly Hills, CA (April 13, 2025) – Beverly Hills High School’s Performing Arts Department brought the magic of Mary Poppins to life this spring in a dazzling, full-scale production that marked the school’s first-ever staging of the beloved musical. The production united students from across the department, including theater, band, orchestra, and technical crew, in a stunning showcase of collaboration, creativity, and school pride.
Performances were held at the Saban Theatre, where audiences were treated to extraordinary vocals, choreography, scenic design, lighting, and a live student-performed orchestral score. Every element of the production was powered by student talent, guided by the BHHS Performing Arts faculty.
“This production of Mary Poppins was not only technically and artistically impressive, it was deeply meaningful for our school community,” said Drew Stewart, Principal of Beverly Hills High School. “It brought together so many students—on stage, behind the scenes, and in the orchestra—and reminded us all what can be achieved through dedication, teamwork, and the arts.”
Opening night was made especially memorable with the return of BHHS alumnus Robbie Sherman (Class of 1986), son and nephew of the legendary Sherman Brothers, Robert B. Sherman and Richard M. Sherman.th Both were also BHHS graduates and the original songwriters behind Mary Poppins. Robbie’s visit was a powerful moment of connection between BHHS history and the next generation of creators.
The production stands as a shining example of BHUSD’s ongoing commitment to Educational Excellence through the arts.
