Beverly Hills, CA (February 13, 2026) - The Beverly Hills Unified School District proudly celebrated Kindness Week with a series of activities designed to promote empathy, gratitude, and service across all five school sites. In partnership with the City of Beverly Hills Health and Human Relations Commission, students engaged in meaningful opportunities that reinforced the District’s commitment to Educational Excellence and community connection.

At Beverly Hills High School and Beverly Vista Middle School, students participated in Kindness Pledge activities during lunchtime, sharing thoughtful reflections and making personal commitments to foster campuses rooted in respect and belonging. Beverly Vista Middle School was also honored with the Kindness Award from the Kindness is Free organization, recognizing the school’s dedication to cultivating a culture of compassion.

At El Rodeo Elementary School and Horace Mann Elementary School, students created a Banner of Gratitude to honor local first responders. Their heartfelt messages served as powerful reminders that leadership begins with appreciation and community care.

Throughout the week, students across the district demonstrated that excellence extends beyond academic achievement. It is reflected in how students treat one another and how they contribute positively to the greater Beverly Hills community.

“Kindness is foundational to who we are as a district,” said BHUSD Superintendent Dr. Alex Cherniss. “When we collaborate with community partners like the Health and Human Relations Commission, we create meaningful opportunities for students to practice empathy, demonstrate leadership, and strengthen the connections that make Beverly Hills such a special place. These partnerships allow our students to live our values of excellence, inclusion, and community in authentic ways.”

Dr. Amanda Stern, BHUSD Board Member and liaison to the Health and Human Relations Commission, and Board Member Russell Stuart were present in support of the week’s activities.

BHUSD remains committed to ensuring that every student realizes their full potential to thrive with integrity in a complex, changing world while leading with both academic excellence and compassion.
